    Summer of Music: Stay and Play at WeHo Hotels

    We all know that The Sunset Strip is the place to be for a bangin’ rock concert. But this summer, West Hollywood hotels are giving the traditional clubs a run for their money. The Standard Hollywood, Andaz, Sunset Marquis, and Mondrian hotels are all holding free or cheap concerts on location throughout the summer. If you’re looking for great music but a more relaxed vibe, check out the goings-on below.

    Standard Desert Nights

    Why wait until the weekend to enjoy a great concert? Every Wednesday night at 7:30 pm The Standard Hollywood holds Desert Nights, a free intimate gathering in the hotel’s warm-vibe Cactus Lounge. Every week KCRW’s DJ Valid and three acoustic musical acts perform in the lounge in a setting meant to feel like you are sitting in the musicians’ own living room. The psych-rock project Sister Ruby Band will be the featured band for the entire month of June.

    Andaz Under The Covers

    Looking for an authentic music experience? The Andaz West Hollywood has partnered with Roxy Theatre owner Nic Adler to bring you free monthly acoustic concerts by local bands. The title “Under the Covers” refers to the cover songs the bands will be performing. As an added bonus, Nic Adler himself interviews the bands from a bed in an Andaz suite in the accompanying podcast suitably named “Pillow Talk.” The next show is this Wednesday, June 20th at 8 pm, no cover, and will feature Midnight Mirage.

    Live! At Sunset Marquis

    Sometimes the weather is just too nice to be indoors, though. On a lovely summer night, go to the Sunset Marquis hotel for the Live@SunsetMarquis music series.  Concerts take place every other Friday night on the Villa Pool deck at 7:30 pm, and drink and appetizer specials help complete the mood. In addition, a silent auction or giveaway for an ESP guitar is held each week, and proceeds benefit the Travelling Guitar Foundation, which provides resources for music enrichment programs in schools. This Friday, June 22nd, head over to see Chelsea Williams, Kate Miller-Heidke, and Rachel McGoye serenade you on the pool deck. Tickets are $20, or $10 for Sunset Marquis hotel guests.

    Mondrian Sessions

    Last but certainly not least, the Mondrian hotel has also gotten on board with the music scene with Mondrian Sessions, presented by IAMSOUND Records. Concerts at the hotel are free for 21+, but require an RSVP. The next Session will be Wednesday, July 18 from 8pm – 12 am, and showcases HAIM and a DJ set from IAMSOUND. RSVP HERE.
