Tom of Finland Foundation Erotic Art Fair Weekend
By: Brittany Nicole La Hue
If you appreciate erotic art or want to learn more about it, stop by Plummer Park in West Hollywood Saturday, September 29 and Sunday, September 30 for the 17th annual Tom of Finland Foundation Erotic Art Fair!
Artists from all around the world will be displaying their works, from sculptures to paintings to photography, sketches and digital renderings. Both male and female art will be for sale. In addition, each afternoon budding artists will be given the opportunity to try their hand at life drawing at photography! There will be different models each day for you to sharpen your skills, so bring your art materials and camera along.
Soon-to-be-announced symposiums and panels will also take place each day from 3 – 4 pm. DJ RocketManLA will be spinning over 90,000 tunes over the course of the weekend, and beer and wine service will be this year’s new addition!

This Erotic Art Fair weekend is special for the Tom of Finland Foundation in yet another way – the fair will host the debut of the new anthology Tom of Finland: Life and Work of a Gay Hero. The brand new book chronicles Tom’s life, and includes pictures from his childhood, Tom’s rarest works and other long-lost images. Authors F. Valentine Hooven III, Durk Dehner and S.R. Sharp will also be present for book signings and discussions!
The festivities kick off Friday, September 28 at 8 pm with an artist reception at the Tom of Finland Foundation house and studio in Los Angeles. This public party is a casual meet and greet for both artists and art aficionados alike. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be served, and many works of art will be displayed. Guests can also explore Tom’s early 20th century mansion/museum and see the studio where he works.
Saturday is the first day of the Art Fair. Admission is for those 21 and older, and consists of a $10 donation to the foundation for the general public or $8 for non-fair artists and Foundation members. Admission is good for both days of the fair!

Celebrate a long and fun day Saturday night at Tom’s Play Party Saturday. Tom and Studio Servitu are teaming up for Tom’s Club, a big private play party in Los Angeles. You can find more information HERE.
Head back to the fair on Sunday for even more art, symposiums and fun. Don’t forget that the Erotic Art Fair Weekend is also Carmageddon weekend, meaning closures on the 405 freeway. Closures begin at 7 pm on September 28 and the freeway does not reopen until Monday, October 1. Please plan your trip to the fair accordingly!
About Tom of Finland

The Tom of Finland Foundation was founded by Touko Laaksonen (aka Tom of Finland) and his friend Durk Dehner in order to preserve Tom’s vast catalog of homo-erotic art. Eventually, the Foundation expanded to preserve, protect, document and educate the public about erotic art and artists as well as offer a safe home for erotic art despite controversy. Art that portrays sexual behavior has traditionally been discriminated against, but the Foundation believes that erotic art is an integral part of gay culture. Dehner, President & CEO of Tom of Finland Foundation, says that “One of the main elements of what makes the homo community so special and unique is that our sexuality has brought us together – and that is what makes us stand apart.” However, the Foundation and Art Fair are not just for the homosexual community; rather, the Foundation strives to include everyone, regardless of “race, creed, religion, gender, sexual identity, medium of expression or any other censoring criteria.”
Come support a great cause and help to establish a healthier and more tolerant attitude about sexuality.
