Bess Kalb, an Emmy-nominated writer for Jimmy Kimmel Live and a regular contributor to The New Yorker‘s “Daily Shouts,” offers a hilarious and unconventional debut memoir about family and the voices we hear beyond the grave. In Nobody Will Tell You This But Me, Bess shares from voicemails that she saved from her grandmother Bobby Bell—an irrepressible, glamorous, unapologetically opinionated force. Bringing these unforgettable heart-to-hearts vividly to the page, Bess recounts family lore to explore four generations of indomitable women as their life journeys take them from homes in Belarus to Brooklyn to Los Angeles. With humor and poignancy, Bess gives us proof of the special familial bonds that can endure beyond death. Join us for an entertaining evening with The Good Place and Parks and Recreation writer Megan Amram as she converses with Bess in person (and Bobby Bell in spirit) about the enduring legacy of family stories.
