Master saxophonist David Murray, renowned for his prolific career collaborating with the greatest names in jazz, brings his newly formed quartet to the Getty Center to celebrate the artists Dawoud Bey and Carrie Mae Weems, and their friendship that spans over 40 years. Since he arrived in New York in 1975, David Murray established himself as one of the prominent saxophone players and leaders of jazz. He has released over 200 albums under his own name, working with the likes of Max Roach, Pharoah Sanders, Amiri Baraka, Jason Moran, Vijay Iyer, Quest Love, and many more. His quartet includes the pianist Marta Sánchez, the bassist Luke Stewart, and the drummer Kassa Overall.
