A Closer Look at The Grafton on Sunset
The Grafton prides itself on being one of L.A.’s “boutique” properties, and while that might be a pretty piece of marketing jargon for some establishments, this hotel aims to take it very seriously.
The Grafton’s boutique charm starts in the service, which is acutely aware of the details–from the warm welcome of check-in (may we recommend the Babylon Suite?) to the fact that this staff will create a custom local itinerary for any guest who requests–filled with local West Hollywood hot spots, Los Angeles sights, and beyond.
We recently caught up with Matthew Aversa, a West Hollywood local and PR professional representing The Grafton.
In the Heart of Rock & Roll
The experience of staying here is simultaneously the energy and buzz of West Hollywood (and the world-famous Sunset Strip) while also a luxe, relaxing escape. The neighborhood’s status as a rock & roll nexus are celebrated in fun and surprising touches in the décor of the hotel. Perhaps it’s a faux fur thrown over a bright red, leather banquet. Or, the tufted leather that adorns not only seats but even swinging doors. Bright, minimalist, funky art is reflected in a sparkling mirrors and drawn cartoon-style along the walls of the hallways.
Yet, as much as this hotel celebrates its location, mere steps from Whisky a Go Go and the Viper Room, it celebrates the art of escape, too. Once you are inside, the chaos and excitement of the world beyond is easily put away.
The Ultimate Escape
The ultimate moment of escape here is certainly the saltwater swimming pool, which tops out at being the largest on the Sunset Strip. The setting includes tall, planted walls on one end and plenty of lounge chairs, carefully adored in cushy, red pillows. However, dining is also a reason alone to make this your hotel choice for a weekend or mid-week trip. Oliver’s Prime steakhouse is legendary, with incredible cuts of dry-aged beef flown in from small farms weekly. To end any night here, you are only steps from Bar 20. Only at The Grafton would you find a club so dedicated to Rock’s penchant for happy deviance. Sexy, sleek, a bit of an homage to the classics of the ‘70s and the Hair Bands of the ‘80s, this is the ultimate place to party till close, and you’re only steps from your bed and the softest custom linens imaginable.
