Where to Ring in the New Year in West Hollywood
The last moments of the year present a blank canvas of opportunity. Whether you love a great DJ set and bottle service or you prefer a bottle of bubbly and an incredible, coursed out romantic dinner—West Hollywood is one of the best places in L.A. to ring in the new year.
The Doheny Room
With its high ceilings, framed black-and-white photos, slatted wooden accents and minimalist barstools, Doheny Room is a beloved, ideal, after-work cocktail den. For the last day of the year, you’ll still be able to experience what makes this spot so wonderful on a normal Tuesday (yes, we are talking about the Asian Fried Chicken Sliders, among other things), but it will be transformed with an upscale vibe for New Year’s Eve once the sun sets. Tickets range from just $29 to $4000. The DJ for the evening is mixing in some holiday mash-ups, alongside Top 40 to Hip Hop to House and VIP ticket holders will experience the sound and sights from the mezzanine level with private, curated bottle service experiences. Akin to having cocktails in a bizarre storybook fairytale, Poppy is one of LA’s hottest and newest nightlife settings. Oversized garden roses, chandeliers, dynamic and innovative cocktails flowing out from hidden bars and sofas for lounging both outside and beneath upholstered ceilings. Expect quite the party here this New Year’s Eve. The tickets start around $90, which gives you access to a five-hour premium bar, a live DJ performance, Champagne and Prosecco toasts and a simulcast of the ball drop in Times Square. Want to go VIP? Opt for their Diamond DJ Table package for 20 people. It will set you back $7,000 but you’ll be sipping from two Magnum bottles of Belvedere vodka and two of Dom Perignon at your private table with private access, no lines and customized service. Dinner at Catch LA
If a romantic meal plucks your heartstrings harder than a packed nightclub, Catch LA is one of the best options for making memories this New Year’s Eve. On their plant-strewn rooftop, beneath the Los Angeles night sky, you can dine on some of the freshest raw and prepared seafood and steaks that the city has to offer. For New Year’s Eve, they are also offering a $150 and a $250 per person seating set menu. Choices include Colossal Florida Stone Crab, 10-ounce Gold Label Waygu steak, Norwegian King Crab and Pecan Pot Pie for dessert. See the New Year’s Eve Menu
The Viper Room
Ring in your new year in one of the most legendary Rock clubs on the planet. For the 31st, three bands will hit the stage. Originally from Melbourne, Australia, Of Limbo is made up of Long Beach brothers Jake and Luke Davies, producing a pure sound that harkens to that edgy, grungy Rock of the mid ‘90s. Them Evils will be taking the room to a sordid level of Punk, full of black leather and desirable fury, and Joyous Wolf brings loud, riotous Blues notes often compared to AC/DC and Deep Purple, but decidedly their own. Step down below the stage to the Viper Room’s whiskey bar, where you’ll find a thirst quencher in the form of small-batch bourbon or rye. Purchase Tickets
The Roxy Theatre
Doing good while having fun is always a wonderful way to enter the new year. The Roxy is throwing an epic, black-tie gala to raise funds for finding a cure for Parkinson’s Disease. Tickets start just shy of $130 and your hosts from Team Fox (a subsidiary of the Michael J. Fox Foundation) will offer an incredible array of French appetizers, entrees, and desserts. The complimentary Champagne will be flowing, and you’ll want to spend at least part of your evening in the green-screen dressing room where fun photo shoots will give you images to remember this night by. The other perks include free valet parking, a renowned DJ, live entertainment and a silent auction. Purchase Tickets
