Decadent Truffle Dishes for Every Meal
Truffles. It’s what’s for breakfast, lunch and dinner in West Hollywood. Black truffles are at their peak during the winter. Of course, in California, they are shipped in from around the world. It’s arguably the best season to celebrate unctuous, intense, decadent truffles.
In West Hollywood at the moment, you’ll find them on everything from pizza to brussel sprouts, steaks to gnocchi.
We aim to help you root out the truffles in West Hollywood. Pun intended.
Breakfast & Brunch
Industrial-chic design elements and a from-scratch menu define Norah, and on this list, it’s an option for truffles at both breakfast and dinner. The early hours call for their soft scrambled eggs with delicate shavings of black truffle on top and just a dash of salt. The Black Truffle Potato Gnocchi here is a must-try second course, with pillow-soft gnocchi in a buttery sauce, made with Parmesan broth and whey. The dish is finished with black truffle conserva and aged Parmesan, topped with shaved, Italian winter truffles.

This modern, Italian enclave is open for three, square meals per day. Truffles naturally work wonders with egg dishes, and, here, they even skew a bit playful and sweet. The Italian crostini is topped with whipped ricotta and drizzled with truffle honey; perfect to share before a brunch entree. Move onward to the Agnolotti del Plin homemade pasta, with shaved black truffle, slowly braised meat, Prosciutto, vegetables and Parmigiano Reggiano. It’s further topped with a black truffle sauce. Finally, the Black truffle and squash blossom pizza is one of Cecconi’s signatures.

The truffle cheese fries is the most ordered dish in the restaurant and you’ll find that on all year. However, the chefs commonly reach for seasonal truffles to create entrees and even desserts, too. “We use a wasabi soy truffle oil made in house for our Maguro Carpaccio. The wasabi gives it a little kick, while the truffle balances out the acidity,” says Katana Chef Raul Salinas. The house Maguro Carpaccio is a tuna sashimi with that wasabi soy truffle oil, plus arugula, avocado and shaved parmesan cheese. Katana offers a fantastic Happy Hour, and it’s hard to think of a better end to a long day than this and a neat pour from their impressive Japanese whiskey selection.

The Scallop Carpaccio is only available for the length of truffle season. We recommend heading in as soon as possible for thisfreshly cut, ultra-thin carpaccio that’s tossed in black pepper, served with black truffles, radish, and almond lemon verbena. If you miss it, don’t freak out. This home to European-influenced haute gastronomy has a Frenchy Black Truffle Pizza that uses a double-layer crepe dough in place of regular, a Truffle Linguini done Cacio e Pepe-style and finished with freshly shaved Black Melanosporum truffles and a Scallop & Truffle dish made by actually inserting a truffle inside of the shellfish.
