Welcome to your jumping-off point to the world-famous Sunset Strip. Hotel Ziggy is the spot to plot your adventures, grab a cocktail, and jump in the heated saltwater pool (the only one in West Hollywood, thank you very much!). You can even create music with like-minded friends in their Shred Shed, where guests can access musical instruments and equipment.

Executive meetings can be held in out-of-the-box style up on the fourth floor, surrounded by vinyl and inspiring artwork. In fact, the entire boutique hotel is an homage to creativity with its unapologetic explosion of color and a neon “Bitch don’t kill my vibe” anchoring the restaurant and bar.

During the summer, DJs like James Kennedy spin for what feels like a never-ending pool party. Their opening event back in April 2022 was a full-on throwback to the type of revolutionary energy that once ruled the Strip.

“Free the Music” is their mantra, and local acts and even some well-known names play for intimate crowds on any given night. There may even be a comedy show to hit, another creative staple of the Sunset Strip. Event planners and brand events may envision holding something in a private room or taking over the whole first floor. Hell, you can even buy out the entire property and put your VIPs in the swim-up cabana rooms around the poolside. Melrose Place, anyone?

As for food and drinks, B-Side Pizza offers more than just pizza and pints, although that’s there too. Their craft cocktails boast names like Evil Ways (mezcal, cucumber juice, jalapeño simple syrup, fresh lime juice), Free Bird (vodka, ginger, simple syrup, lemon, raspberries, honey), and Californication (gin, orgeat, mint, lime, cucumber juice). Chances are your bartender/lead singer/actor is sporting tats, locks, and nail art.

The American Breakfast is a staple for breakfast, and their Buttermilk Pancakes are colorful and delicious. However, it’s the pizza for me. Their walk-up pizza window (yep, you heard that right) is open from 12 pm – 10 pm during the winter. Summer hours will vary.

If you feel like getting out for a walk, there are a ton of options close by, like Tesse, Katana, Madeo, and Sweetgreen. You can also simply order from Uber Eats or Door Dash. It’s just that chill.

At the end of the day, it’s about the people. A quick visit to the reviews will list their staff as one of the best things about this property. As of this writing, their manager has a luxury hospitality background but sports vibrant blue hair that just happens to match the nails of the welcoming front desk receptionist. It’s inclusive, diverse, and celebrates non-conformity – but it doesn’t sacrifice service or attention to detail in the process. That cool, welcoming vibe extends to the guests and encourages them to mix, mingle and take in a show if they want. You can also opt to put on your sunglasses and baseball hat and be left alone at the pool if that’s more your thing.

For locals, consider it for your next staycation, where you can unleash your creative renegade and party like a rockstar. For businesspeople in town for a boring convention, stay here to give yourself a jolt of fun and play after a long day of presentations and spreadsheets. And for tourists, there is simply nothing like a night out on the Strip – or in Ziggy’s case, maybe a stroll to the hotel lobby.
