5 Things You Need to Do for Awards Season 2023

Spring. Summer. Fall. Winter. And if you are in West Hollywood, there is Awards Season. And while there has been a bit of shakeup around our signature awards ceremonies, some things remain constant here in The Creative City.

We still love celebrating the entertainment industry’s talent, hard work, and creativity. And yes, that means parties! So, here’s a little guide for your consideration as you prepare for these parties … even if that will just be you and your friends with a bottle of bubbly in your living room.

1. Wake Up and Makeup

Deciding on the right makeup look for your big night out can be overwhelming. Whether you want the full-on slay of your favorite makeup content creator, the total coverage of a Hollywood leading lady, or the effortless no-makeup-makeup-look of a runway model, a pro artist will know how to give you what you want. Check with your hotel concierge or consider one of these.

2. Perfect Your Canvas

Great skin gives you the best canvas for a perfect makeup application. The EDITION Custom Facial at The Spa at West Hollywood EDITION was created to get guests and clients red carpet ready. Consider getting a deep cleansing facial two to three weeks before an event to clear the skin. A day or two before your event, think about a microcurrent facial to tone, tighten, and brighten the skin. Finally, try a hydrating mask to temporarily plump the skin, improve texture and make you look well-rested and fresh.

Tip: If you have a dreaded blemish, a steroid shot can help shrink it, but experts suggest doing this 48 hours before the event — especially if you’ve never had one.

3. Style Me, Please

Have you ever dreamed of working with a professional fashion stylist? Here are a few favorite stores and shopping centers that Hollywood stylists visit to pull, get inspired, and dress their A-List clients. We’ve included a luxury consignment shop – you might even score a piece once owned by your Hollywood fave.

Tip: Make sure to bring a pair of heels and maybe your undergarments (we’re looking at you, Spanx!) to get an accurate idea of how something might look on your big night.

4.  Color, Cut, Style, Extensions?

Watching Hollywood’s leading ladies transform themselves for the red carpet is so much fun. We’re excited to see what the Michelles do (Yeoh and Williams). We can’t wait to see Viola Davis and Thuso Mbedu bring us that Woman King energy. And Margo Robbie always gives us wicked glam. Make sure your hair is on point, too, and book with one of these salons to get your look together.

Tip: Scroll the salon’s Instagram accounts to see which stylist can give you precisely what you want.

5.  No Photos, Please

Ok, we lied. We want all the photos. Now that you have glowing skin, the perfect makeup, beautiful hair, and an outfit that makes you feel ah-maz-ing, you have to take the perfect photo for your social media feed. West Hollywood is famous for its social media-worthy locations, so grab your camera (or iPhone) and a friend and visit one of these picture-perfect spots before you lose the light.

Tip:  You may want to opt for your camera phone because some of these locations may ask you to stop if your session looks and feels like a pro photo shoot.

Bonus:  Break a Sweat

Some say that you don’t have to get ready if you stay ready. So, consider upping your fitness game now. West Hollywood boasts a little something for everyone. You can try anything from boxing to HIIT to Pilates and much more.
