Awards Season Glam: Where to get the Red Carpet Treatment

The Awards Season is in full swing and part of the excitement is seeing the celebrities with glam makeovers from head to toe. Get a little help from the experts the next time you’re getting ready for a big night out in West Hollywood. Local lifestyle blogger Maxine Tatlonghari shares her beauty itinerary and local favorites for a complete red carpet look.

Here in West Hollywood, we actually have five seasons: Spring, Summer, Winter, Fall and Awards Season. As an LA #beautyboss and lifestyle blogger, I have a lot of events to attend in general. It’s a lot to keep up with and following is a little breakdown of how I like to get ready for a big event on the town:

7:30 AM Wake up

8:00 AM Light Breakfast

I like to head over to Zinque on Melrose for fresh air and a light bite.  My fave is the Zucchini Egg White Frittatas Plate because I usually try to avoid carbs before a big event.

Alternative: Alchemy Cafe on Robertson for organic food, smoothies and elixirs.

9:30 AM Final Slim Down

If you are anything like me you’ve tried to work out and eat right before the big night. But, I like to have one last slim down session so I can feel like my most confident self. For the true multitasker, Makeup Mandy’s unique Lean & Lash offering combines the slimming effects of lympahtic drainage massage with a simultaneous full-set application of Hollywood-worthy lash extensions.

Alternative:  A sweat session at Shape House on Robertson.

10:45 AM  Shower

I like to put my hair up into a messy bun, throw on some cc cream and my sunglasses and head back out.

12:30 PM Light Lunch

The Butcher, The Baker, The Cappucino Maker in Sunset Plaza gives me serious European vibes. I like sit to outside on the cute benches lining the courtyard between the buildings and order the Market Salad with grilled salmon. At this point in my get-ready routine, I may even have a glass of champagne.

Alternative: Tocaya Organica on Sunset Blvd. for organic tacos and lots of vegan options.

1:45 PM Hair transformation

For Victoria Secret Angel inspired locks, head over to BELLAMI Beauty Bar to purchase their high quality clip-in extensions and have them installed upstairs.

Alternative:  Michelle Schwartz at B2V Salon on Doheny is a BELLAMI Hair ambassador and can install your clip-ins.  If you want to go more natural, she also does beautiful blow outs.

3:15 PM Makeup by the pros

Head over to MAC Pro on Melrose and go see Little Rock, Lindrel or any of the other pro artists available to you. The team is accustomed to glamming up Hollywood’s social butterflies for special events on a daily basis so make sure to make an appointment.

Alternative:  Blushington in Sunset Plaza (P.S. They are conveniently located right next door to The Drybar for yet another hair option for you!)

4:30 PM Get dressed

5:00 PM Golden Hour photo time

If you are staying at one of our WeHo hotels, properties like La Peer Hotel and Sunset Marquis offer up so many beautiful spots to take photos.  But, if you want a West Hollywood street style vibe, two of my favorite locations include Melrose Place (not to be confused with Melrose Avenue) for a casual “oh I’m just walking down the street looking fab” shot and the Instagram-famous Paul Smith pink wall on Melrose.

6:00 P.M.  Have another glass of champagne before your car arrives.  It’s showtime!
