Mary Ta
Founder/Owner, Minotti & Mass Beverly
For tastemaker Mary Ta, life in West Hollywood is one big, beautiful adventure. The founder and owner of two of the world’s most influential design showrooms, Minotti and MASS Beverly, Mary’s eclectic-modern aesthetic has earned her clients ranging from Beyoncé and Jay Z to Calvin Klein and Elon Musk. Fueled by classic cars, California sunshine and the new ideas and energies that constantly bubble through the city, Mary has found all the inspiration she needs to run her international design businesses right here in the heart of L.A.
Mary was filmed in the Design District in her showrooms at Minotti and Mass Beverly, as well as driving her vintage Bentley at the Pacific Design Center.
“We wanted to introduce Los Angeles to Italian design, and we chose West Hollywood because we wanted to be in a community. We actually wanted to grow that impact of design and use the community as a source of education.”
“I wanted to open a store that anyone can walk into, feel inspired, learn, and just kind of hang out and read design magazines—because that’s what I did as a young person.”
“We’re not an urban jungle. We’re actually quite a good balance between a city and a community and a neighborhood. And I think that sense of neighborhood—living with trees, living with businesses, living with people, so it’s a real city in the futuristic sense where we balance the people, we balance the businesses, we balance the fun.”
